Happy Halloween!

I'm under the weather again. Or to be more accurate I still am, but this time it's flaired up? I went to the doctors today. I'm on antibiotics, had blood drawn to test for mono (had it two years ago) and a few other things. I also have to go get an x-ray of my chest because it seems I might have asthma also. Is that how you spell it? Well, anyway you know what I mean. I will post trick or treating photos this weekend but for now, I'm going to go sleep somemore. Happy Halloween!

Knitting? On a knitting blog?

I thought I had better get some knitting content on this here knitting blog. Seems like I haven't done any knitting but I have. It's just little and slow. So here's a close up of my pink cotton King Tut sweater that I've managed to put an inch on the last couple of weeks.
This color is much more accurate of the pink. I'm a big girl, this sweater is going to be big.... Don't expect a finished product for a few years LOL.
This is a fabulous Bamboo yarn from S.W.T. Co. that Meg of the TSP's got me at the big yarn sale at City Knits. I'm going to someday, in a few years probably LOL, make Lift and Seperate from Big Girl Knits with it. Fuchia. How can you not love a hot looking sweater made with a hot colored yarn in a silky texture that will make you feel hot? Yeah baby.
This is how much I got done of Karl's Marquette socks on the field trip up to the U.P. I'm a bit burned out on them so they haven't made any progress since then, but hey, it's a great start.

And last but most definately not least, here's the progress on my Summer Sock Party sock. This is going to be a way, way, way cool pair of socks!!!! So there. Knitting for a knitting blog, imagine, what a concept eh? LOL Peace.

Brain Twisting

A conversation between an 11 year old boy and his mother.
Mother: "A red shirt is red because it reflects that wavelength of white light. I always thought it was because it absorbed it. Neat."
Boy: "What would happen if reflections started dying? Would we see rainbows all over the place?"
Mother, slightly numb from her brain twisting and scrambling to remember what she learned about sight: "Since we don't really 'see' but have signals sent to our brain from molecules that are rearranged by the light that is reflected then I think we'd probably 'see' black or white like we do at night."
Boy: "We see black and white at night?"
Mother: "Yes, check it out when you go to bed tonight. We see black and white because the light isn't strong enough to reflect color, or rearrange those molecules, or something along those lines. Now stop making my brain twist would you it's making my head hurt."
I seriously love the way his brain functions. Mine? It hurts.

Copper.

Here's our copper from our summer trip to the U.P. Karl found most of it the lucky duck! It's laying on our mousepad which is pretty much a standard sized one. Keyboard is the silver thing behind the copper.

Here's a close up of the copper. I wish the shine would show through in the photo. I didn't have time to get more of the rock off but perhaps I will later. Mr. Thomas is just the best and I hope he knows how much I appreciate him letting me use the lab for this. I also hope he knows how much it means to me that I was able to go on the trip with his class. It really was so much fun and I enjoyed going and gaining more knowledge. Well, I guess I had better go off and curl up with my Chemistry book *sigh*. Wish it were the needles.

I don't want you all worrying!

I'm not in a funk anymore. Tomorrow WILL have a new post to show you all of the copper I have now. I'm going down to WCC to clean more in the morning and visit with the class I went with. Mr. T will also help finish my funk because the man really knows how to make me fell like I can do it, that I will be good at it, and I will do it. (I'm talking teaching here, no gutter stuff! Yes, I know you were going there. Yes you! Stop.) I'll leave you with a saying on one of my kids tees - "A day without sunshine is like, well, night!" That cracks me up everytime I think about it. C.U. on the flip side knitsters! Peace.

Funk

I've been in a funk since Saturday night because of a huge fight with my hubby. Sunday we had it out again and I just can't shake this funk I'm in now. I also got back two tests and they're not happy either. So school is going bad, the house is trashed, my DH feels overwhelmed and I'm just stretched. Like Bilbo says in Lord of the Rings, I feel stretched, like too little butter scrapped over toast. Or something along those lines. I just wanted to let you know I'm here still, I've been reading your blogs and if I can get around to it tomorrow I will post a real post. *sigh* Why does it always have to be so hard? Knit on girls your work is fabulous!

For our 15th anniversary I give you the back of my head LOL. I was trying to capture the color a bit better but it didn't work that well did it? Anyway, we're going to dinner later and that's about it for the day. I like quiet days like today. I think I will celebrate by knitting on something I've not touched in awhile. Yeah, that's the ticket. Now to decide what LOL!

Oh! Oh! Oh! The new Anticraft is out! Ummm, if you don't like scary, gross and well, things along those lines this ain't the issue for you! Oooooh but if you do....

Surprise, I bring you rocks.

LOL, more rocks. Disconformities, nonconformities, unconformities, we saw it all on this trip. I wanted to say thanks for all the compliments on my hair. The color is exactly like a black cherry since it won't show up right in the photos. You either like it or not *grin*.

Love that hat!

Me and some Mesnard Quartzite.

Look, we're even on the sign for the hotel.

Lots of snow for October. Posted by Picasa

We interrupt field trip photos for a new look.

This is my before picture this morning, unwashed, no makeup, glasses, hell, I'm still in my P.J.'s LOL. I went to get my hair cut and colored again and this is what I came back looking like.

I was able to donate my hair! Fantastic Sam's deals with a Michigan charity that makes wigs for Michigan kids that accepts only 6 inches. So one of my main goals in life has been reached. I donated my hair!!! Karl hates it but I don't care LOL. The color is violet though it's not really showing up that well is it? It does in real life. So ta-da, new color, new cut, new look.

And I think I will start all over again because it felt good! Peace!

I'm back

and I'm damn tired. Boy did I have a great time though, even with the snow.
Here's the Mackinaw bridge, 5 miles long and scary as hell. The waterfall is the Munising Falls in, you guessed it, Munising LOL. A really pretty little thing. I've been corrected by Mr.T, this is the Alger Falls in Munising.
And me. I didn't realize my hair was quite that red now LOL, but it's not bad. Hey, I was looking pretty damn good for 7:30 am eh?
This the biggest brain fart of my day. I totally know what the name of this waterfall is but I'm drawing a complete and total blank at the moment. I need some Tylenol as a matter of fact. Anyway, you don't need the name to enjoy the view. And these falls? The Munising Falls. I TOLD you I should have known the name of these falls LOL. Just in my own defense, I called in on Friday and slept from 6:30 pm to 9:30 am the next morning. Yes, 15 hours straight with no waking in between. I think I deserve the right to have gotten the names wrong. That's my story and I'm sticking with it!
This is what it looked like the second day in the afternoon. The snow was amazingly beautiful with the waterfall. Why does something so mystical have to come with ass freezing cold? Burrrrrrrrrr
I had a wonderful time, the students were an absolute riot and my stomach still hurts from laughing so hard. I'll post more photos later tonight or tomorrow but I really want to try and get a nap in before work. I also got 2 inches done on my DH's sock so now they can offically be called the Marquette Slouch Socks. Yeah! Catch ya on the flip side, peace.

Packing with a mushy brain

Meg helped me with my homework which I have to say would have totally not been doable by myself. Unfortunately now my best friend knows how truly lacking I am in math skills, thankfully she's my friend and she'll love me anyway. Do you know what this book and Meg have in common? They both ROCK! Yes, a cheesy pun to express how very much I am thankful to and for her. She took almost 3 hours out of a beautiful Sunday afternoon just to help me. Rarely do people get so blessed to have such a great person in their life. Of course that makes Russ extra special also because not only did he bring Meg into my life he also introduced me to my hubby 21 years ago. *sigh* Everyone should be so lucky to have friends like these. I'm now off to get packed, both for school tomorrow and for my trip. I may post tomorrow, but don't hold your breath because I'd still like to have someone come and read my babbling when I get back. Peace!!!

Before trying to do my homework.....

and I was still smiling. I wore my wonderful scarf that Meg of the TSP knit me to school today. It was perfect! Not too hot but warm enough to keep me comfy without a jacket. I also wanted to say....
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MEG!!!
I know it's early (monday is the real day) but I'm feeling off and I am going to be gone Tu-Th. I didn't want to forget to say it. I will be too busy Monday to post anything also.
I went and got some help from my astronomy prof. today and though it helped some, it didn't. I'm so lost with this math shit and I'm having serious issues with feeling like a dumbass. I was manic today so I'm sure I left a lasting impression on my prof. I swear, when you look up mental case in the dictionary my photo should be there. Hey Meg, if you can squeak out anytime in the afternoon tomorrow or Sunday can you help me? Posting will be very little this next week so have a good one and I will tell you all about the geology trip when I get back! Peace.

by the way, it's a fabulous photo isn't it? Grant took it, he's only 8 LOL. Damn, remind me not to let him take anymore of me. *grin*

I got it done!!

I made a pot of Earl Grey tea and drank it out of my groovy new Ren Fest mug and I sat at the computer and typed, spell checked and submitted my autobiography part one. YEAH! Now, it's not total party time JUST yet. I still have chemistry homework and astronomy homework and a whoooooole lotta reading for history. But hey, a biggie is out of the way. Cool eh?
And I got Marquette Sock #1 done so I can work on the second next week on my way up to... Marquette... duh. So I'm a happy camper at the moment. I've got my groovy blue socks on from Gracie (<---on the sidebar there) from the last sockapaloooza. I LOVE these socks! They remind of water and sky, which is always a good thing. So, peace folks.

Geekness

I give you my calculator cozy that just needs a big button to hold it closed. See, it holds the booklet that came with it so hopefully I will never lose it. Not that I think the calculator is of such great quality that it will last a long time.

And here is the progress on my hubby's sock. The photo above is a little dark but I wanted to show the lines. It's the slouch sock from Not Just More Socks by Sandi Rosner. I'd like to get this sock done this week so next week when I go up to the UP with the geology class (again LOL) I can work on the second sock. I did the top part of the sock this summer on the way up and back from Marquette. I want to work on the second sock so I can call them the Marquette socks.
I think I did ok on my Astronomy test yesterday and I didn't get my History one back yet. I'm anxious to see how I did on that. I got my Chemistry homework done this morning that's due tomorrow and now all I have left is a whole lotta reading and the autobiography. But right now? I need a nap. Two nights of 4-5 hours of sleep is not a good thing. Holy flying spaghetti monster, I need to do laundry too! No, nap time now, I just don't have the energy to go down there and fight the mess. Have a terrific Tuesday! Peace.

Glorious News!!!

My autobiography is not due until 10/9 now! Wooo hoooo! I was finding it much harder to do than I anticipated and I'm glad I didn't wait until the last minute to do it. Though as tough as it is I feel like it WAS last minute. Who would have thought it'd be difficult for me to talk about myself??!!? Now if I can only figure out what information would be best to put on my 3x5 card I'm allowed for my Astronomy test tomorrow I'd be in a Zen state LOL. Oh happy happy joy joy! If I wouldn't hurt myself doing it I'd jump up and down. Well, have a beautiful Sunday afternoon! Hey, you think I might actually get to do a few stitches today? I'm thinking it possible! Peace.
